Cheadle Medical Practice

Welcome to our surgery's website, where we hope you will benefit from a user-friendly layout and a wealth of information about our healthcare services. Find out when we’re open and what to do when we’re not, all from the comfort of your own home. We aim to provide the highest quality of care to our patients. Our doctors, nurses, HCAs and all our admin and reception staff are dedicated to offering a professional service.

As well as telling you about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a resource for other health-related information, and as a signpost to other relevant websites. Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like. We can use your ideas to improve our online services and further develop the content of this site.

Dr Joanne Wilson

After 7 years as a partner, Cheadle Medical Practice will say goodbye to Dr Joanne Wilson who will be retiring from the practice in April 2019.

Dr Wilson joined Cheadle Medical Practice as Salaried GP in 2006 before joining the partnership in 2012.

She has taken on many roles within the practice including lead for GP training which has resulted in the success of our many GP Registrars who she has mentored through their training programme at the practice.

Her commitment to the wellbeing and success of CMP and its staff is second to none and we will miss her leadership, support, ambition, and most of all her company.

Through the years she has been a pleasure to have as a partner and colleague and we know you will join us in wishing her all the very best for the future

The practice has a long standing commitment to the continuing education of all our team members,  We also train and support doctors in specialist GP training, students and other healthcare professionals.

We work in partnership with the wider health and social care network in Stockport and Greater Manchester in order to remain at the forefront of change within our NHS

We are looking into improving our Practice website. We want to ensure that the changes we make will be useful and effective. We are very keen to gain some feedback about the current website and would very much like to hear from you as one of our valued patients. This short survey should take no longer than 2-3 minutes and will be completely anonymous.

Please be aware that there is currently an issue with our clinical system which is resulting in patients receiving appointment text reminders inappropriately.  If you receive a text reminder and have not booked an appointment to attend the practice, please ignore the message. Our clinical system supplier is investigating the issue which we hope will be resolved as soon as possible.  Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

New Initiatives in Training

Medical Receptionist Apprentices: - We have recently appointed 2 new apprentices and look forward to helping mentor them through their time at Cheadle Medical Practice

Medical Students for Manchester Medical School: - In the past we have had occasional medical students at the practice from London Medical Schools.  We hope to have Manchester students regularly

GP Registrars

We are a training practice for GPs. This means we have doctors working at the practice who have been fully qualified for several years, and are now undergoing specialist training in General Practice. They are an important part of our team and are usually with us for between 6 and 18 months.

We occasionally have medical students, work experience student and other allied healthcare professional (eg: nurse, midwife) students visiting the practice for short attachments.

Services Offered at the Practice

Named Accountable GP

The partners take collective responsibility for patient care offered at Cheadle Medical Practice.  Your notes will show that you have an accountable GP (which will be the same as your registered GP.)  This does not alter your choice to see other GPs within the practice who you see regularly.  If you wish to know who your named GP is, please contact the practice.  Certain practitioners have special areas of interested and will supervise long term care in these conditions.

Out of Area Registration

Patients are able to choose to register at a practice in a different area to where they live. This is usually for convenience, for example where you work, etc. Each application to do this will be reviewed by the partners to ensure it is clinically appropriate, and the patient informed by letter of the outcome. If you are accepted as an Out of Area patient, more information about accessing routine and urgent medical services will be provided to you by post

Appointment Text Cancellation

we now have a dedicated number for you to text in to cancel your appointment.  The number is: 07742 230 630

Please try and cancel at least one hour before your appointment time leaving your name, date of birth and appointment details.

Please note this is for cancellations only.  We will not reply to your text.  We hope this will make cancelling your appointment easier and reduce the number of patients failing to attend, allowing more appointments to be available for other patients needing to be seen.
